I write every day because it gives me peace. Writing along with meditation and exercise 1) quietens the cacophony of my overthinking mind, 2) calms my nerves throughout the day, and 3) helps me sleep better at night.
Because there’s a burning desire to tell what’s in my heart. And writing gives an outlet for that energy inside of me.
After I started writing, I fell in love with it. It was because of the following reasons. They motivate me to write even more.
Flow state
I heard writers like
talk extensively about the flow state. He says that you enter the flow state after about 15 minutes. But most people fail to experience this magical feeling because they never reach the 15-min mark.I sought this experience. So, I started writing first thing in the morning.
Time slowed down. Only me and my thoughts and nobody in between. My writing speed increased not only in terms of word count but also in ideas. And I wasn’t dumping my thoughts like you do on a journal. Rather, I was logically writing articles, but faster and effortlessly. Ideas came easily to me.
Look, to be a writer, you’ve to write a lot. And if you want to get a lot done in one sitting, flow state is the secret weapon you’re looking for.
It’ll boost your output by at least 1.5x
For me, flow state = creativity + focus + speed.
And everyone must experience it.
Better Communicator
My desire to write also stems from my inability to articulate well in my day-to-day conversations. Thinking on my feet has never been my forte. I’m slow. Talking has always been hard.
But writing makes me think, teaches me how to structure an argument, and express what’s in my heart properly. And today, I’m a little better at expressing myself.
Thinker and a better human being
“Why do I need something?”
“What’s the primal desire that’s triggering me to want it?”
I think a lot about these questions. Then I try to understand if my past has something to do with my wants and my desires.
And that’s how I understand myself, take better decisions, develop good habits, and try to be a better person overall.
Writing to earn money
Writing is the base of all money-making endeavors. Therefore, money will come, when I get better at writing.
The options for making money with writing are:
freelancing,
ghost writing,
YouTube script writing,
earnings from Medium and Quora, and
several writing jobs in agencies and companies.
And since writing makes you a better thinker, it helps find new ideas that can be developed into businesses for earning money.
Helping others
But why help others? Because helping others makes me happy. Simple.
Most of what I write are notes to myself. And if my work can help who’re in a similar situation as me, I’m happy to help.
To be an immortal
The internet immortalizes us. Whatever we put on the internet will stay after we’re gone. Therefore, our future generations can read what you and I write today and apply it to their lives and solve their problems.
All humans face the same problems — from Aristotle to Jiddu Krishnamurti to our future generations. Maybe in a different time, and with a little twist. But human life is broadly the same, irrespective of time and place.
That’s why I write about my journey and my thoughts. The least I can do.
Namaskar 🙏
These are the reasons I write every day.
Please share in comments or DMs why you write and/or if you relate to my reasons for writing.
P.S. I’d like to thank . Because her article, Writing can transform your life, and the writing prompts she had listed in her article inspired me to write this post.
Love it when you said the internet immortalize us. How many writers past gone are still with us in their wonderful writings? A beautiful mind lives on forever.
