These TWO helped me stop overthinking
I do my best when I _____ and _____ regularly. They help me avoid overthinking.
Since I’m an overthinker, my thoughts trouble me a lot. But with exercise, I’m kind of grounded. It maybe because when I’m tired, my brain doesn’t have the extra energy to waste on trivial thoughts like “what do others think about me?”.
The brain’s primary function is survival, and always prioritizes it over other tasks. So, when I’m tired after exercise, my brain focuses on what’s important for ME & my survival and what’ll actually move the needle. Instead of unnecessary overthinking.
Meditation has the same effect on me but through a different route.
It helps me explore unattended or unresolved thoughts & memories. Like opening unopened emails and taking the necessary action for them. That helps me be with peace with my thoughts and make sure they don’t disturb me when I’m living my life.
Thus:
I love myself more,
deal with my insecurities better,
resolve past hurts, and
can move on with my life.
And I’ve seen this pattern that when I exercise and meditate regularly, I perform better if judged over a long period of time.
No breaks.
No rest days.
Of course, it’s impossible to have an extensive work out or a 30-minute meditation every single day. Because life’s random and unexpected responsibilities come up. That’s why a short workout which pumps the blood in my veins & raises the body temperature and a 5-min meditation are enough for those busy days.
I’m really happy and satisfied with this combo. And possibly you could also benefit from it. Try it and let me know how you feel and what, if any, results you get.
Thank you.
