Society cares about ONE thing
What if writing to the best of your ability was the only thing you cared about?
Society will love and accept you if you give results. But society will tell you to “GTFO of here,” when you’re not successful by society’s standards. It doesn’t matter how hard you’ve worked or how good & kind-hearted of a person you are. Society cares only about results.
But there’s a problem. You control your actions, NOT the results. It’s because results also depend on factors outside your control.
So, the love and acceptance of society is not in your control. Now, what do you do?
Stop caring about the results, and focus on your work. Strive to do it to the best of your ability and give it your all. That way you’ll not only maximise your chances of getting the desired result by doing a good job. But also, be happy regardless of the outcome and the reaction of the society. Unbothered and still.
But most people do the opposite. They care a lot about the result and what the society thinks about the result. But forget that only work is under their control. Thus, complicating their life.
The philosophy of doing the work and forgetting about the result sounds simple. But it’s hard to practice. Because when you do something with your heart & soul, you get attached to it and most importantly, start EXPECTING results. This expectation kills the joy in your life.
Consider this example: You write an article. You edit it beautifully attaching the best picture. Once published, you expect others to like, share, and comment on it. But if that doesn’t happen, it makes you sad. What if writing a good article and publishing it was the only result you ever wanted and cared for? Whether people liked it or not didn’t matter to you. That’s what I’m talking about: doing the work and not caring about the result.
Imagine what it would be like. You would be successful every time you write a good article. An article that is good by YOUR STANDARDS, and not that of the society. You would always be successful and happy.
Thus, the separation or attachment to results and others’ opinions of the results could be the difference between heaven or hell for you.
So, what will you choose?
